Our Journey

Where the Story Begins

OUR JOURNEY

In July of 1998, a Friday Night Bible Study was started in southeast Raleigh, North Carolina on Pender Street by Pastor Jeffery Chapman, Sr.  As he began to minister to the men and women of Southeast Raleigh, he was able to see they were searching for the Lord in all the wrong places.  Many were seeking to escape the difficulties of life through drugs, alcohol, and prostitution.

During the summer of 1999, Pastor Chapman began an early Sunday morning services behind a local department store on Highway 70, for a group of homeless people in Garner. Several weeks later, a Saturday outdoor church service was held in an open field on Raleigh Boulevard. Through these experiences, God prepared Pastor Chapman to start his ministry.

In October of 2000, Raleigh North Christian Center, the vision of Pastor Jeffery Chapman, Sr. came to pass. He began a Bible Study on Hargett Street with nine members. On December 2, 2000, RNCC had its first Sunday Morning Service. The service was held at the Hargett Street location.

On December 10, 2000, RNCC began having Sunday Worship Services at Carolina Pines Community Center and continued their Wednesday Night Bible Study at the Hargett Street location.  In a very short time, RNCC’s congregation grew from 9 members to over 24 while at Carolina Pines.

On April 1, 2001, RNCC moved its Sunday services to Lions Park Community Center. The location was where Pastor Chapman originally wanted to be, directly behind the Raleigh North Apartments. With the help of the park’s director, RNCC was able to hold both Sunday service and Wednesday Night Bible Study functions at the same location.  Here they experienced rapid growth from 24 members to 90.

In 2003, RNCC relocated to its own building at 7715 Louisburg Road in North Raleigh, where the exponential growth continued; so much that two services were held each Sunday to accommodate the growing congregation and ministries.  God was showing Raleigh North great favor, so in 2008 RNCC purchased 6 acres of land, 1.5 miles up from its location on Louisburg Road.  RNCC opened the doors to its new, much larger facility in February of 2010.  Presently, Raleigh North Christian Center is home to over 1,600 members.
